Flower of Faith

When I started thinking about a name for my blog, I really wanted it to express me in a way that was unique to who I am. That is how I landed on Flower of Faith. For as long as I can remember, I have enjoyed everything flowers. My grandma, my mom and my sister Heather all love flowers and we share that common connection between us. I think we have all enjoyed the process of seeing something as tiny as a seed grow into a beautiful mature flower that we can look at, appreciate and enjoy. It’s the time between seed and bloom that is the most difficult though. We must practice patience and optimism as we look forward to the day that we get to enjoy the fruits of our labor.
That process of growing is much like our journey in faith as well. Our faith begins with the dropping of a seed. Someone comes along and inspires you to think about your life in a much greater way. Makes you think about why you exist on this planet and how you were created. Once you understand and accept that Jesus came to this earth to give us a way to be present with our Holy God in heaven someday, then and only then can our seed start to grow and mature. Others come along and give us a little water, encouraging us and pouring spiritual guidance into our lives. We start to sprout. Young Christians, searching, looking, raising families, trying a make a place in this world. We get a little stronger each day. The Son shines on us and we grow a little more. Each passing day brings about change and maturity. Before we know it, we have matured into a beautiful flower that brings joy to others, nods to the Giver of Life and recognizes that our time on this earth is only for a moment. Our petals begin to fade and wilt, and we return to the dust of this earth, leaving behind small seeds of hope that will one day sprout into new mature flowers, starting the circle of life all over again!

Isaiah 40:8 The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God will stand forever.
