Living With a Holy Curiosity

As I kid, I can remember always asking “Why?”. I was that kid. I was curious about things and wanted to know more. I wanted to know how my parents came to the decision that I needed a spanking and I wanted them to explain to me why. Just in case they may have been wrong about something that happened. I was curious and I couldn’t explain why I needed to know. That was simply how I was able to learn. I am very analytical. I enjoy understanding how and why people are wired while also trying to wrap my mind around how I function myself. Why do I do the things I do, what triggers my brain to respond in a certain way, what motivates me to action? All the questions.
In all my curiosity, I have tried to make sense of who God is and define in my mind why I was created. It’s like I want a clear picture that I can contain within my mind. But that can be dangerous because God cannot be contained. Or can He? In some ways, God is a mystery that only can be revealed to those who have put their faith and belief in him.
But if we think outside the box, God is contained. He is contained within this beautiful world that He created. He is all things because he created all things. He lives in everything. He lives within me. I have reckoned in my mind that I will never fully understand the magnitude of God and His ways and that is okay. His Word tells us that his thoughts are not our thoughts, and his ways are not our ways.
I will never know all the whys of this world, but I will remain curious and ask questions, that’s the beauty of our individuality……that God created!
